They sign an agreement for the massification of school and community sports

President Luis Abinader, together with the Ministers of Education and Sports, Roberto Fulcar and Francisco Camacho, respectively, on Monday they launched the INDÓMITA-RD project to promote the massification of Community School Sports, in an act held in the Palacio de los Deportes and in which the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) started the Final Stage of the National Tournament of School Basketball 2021.

Through INDÓMITA-RD, a massive and constant activity will be designed, programmed, developed and monitored in neighborhood and rural educational and sports centers, focused on ensuring the sports practice of children aged eight years and older and adolescents of both sexes, as well as the physical activity of adults in the communities. In a first stage, the initiative will focus on at least seven sports or disciplines: Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Table Tennis (Ping Pong), Athletics and Chess.

The Program aims to generate thousands of new prospects, future athletes, and promote their access to life opportunities in sport and beyond, while contributing to the improvement of education, health, social insertion and cohesion indexes, healthy life and prevention of vices and crime.

INDÓMITA-RD seeks to impact millions of children and young people of both sexes of the student population of public and private centers dependent on the Ministry of Education, young people of both sexes and adults of the neighborhood and rural communities of the country, as well as athletes from the Dominican diaspora. This will literally impact a large part of the Dominican population from childhood and adolescence.

When signing the agreement for the launch of the project, the Ministers of Education, Roberto Fulcar, and of Sports, Francisco Camacho, indicated that “INDÓMITA-RD is a joint effort of MINERD and MIDEREC whose purpose is to propose intelligent and effective responses to the need for state policies that create opportunities for our children and adolescents, this time referring to sports ”.

With this project, the Dominican government, through the Ministers of Education and Sports, are at the height of the demand of the Dominican society in sports matters and its related, being aware of the challenge that they have faced, together with President Luis Abinader , in terms of school sports and initial sports in general, promoting the expansion of activities with the greatest potential for social change in the short and medium term.

Scope of the program

The project contemplates the promotion of School Sports in schools and colleges, providing services of trainers, coaching, coordinators, etc., in different sports, and promoting interscholastic competitions; likewise, sports in higher-level academic centers; provide training and coaching in neighborhoods and places, promoting the formation of teams of different sports and the strengthening of competitions between teams from the neighborhood and the place and schools and colleges, as well as inter

neighborhoods; organize the adults of the neighborhood and place in community sports activities, outdoor physical activity and exchanges in the facilities, so that the facilities and volunteering become a key center of the healthy social life of the community, acting in competition with local governments, cultural clubs, sports leagues and other institutions, as well as uniting the school / college and neighborhood / hamlet teams with sports leagues and contributing to competitive matches.

Also, organize the participation of the champions of the initial sport (from schools / colleges and neighborhoods / places) in exchanges with academic and sports settings and national and international competitions, as well as with scenarios conducive to the diaspora, programmed to motivate prospects to strive to develop their full potential to become highly competitive athletes.

Likewise, carry out promotional events with icons of national and world sports, as a way for young people to know and seek inspiration in paradigmatic models of success, and provide the opportunity for all participants to enter the level of prospect or aspiring athlete, and ensure that these The latter receive all the stimuli and supplies, such as orientations, trainings, sports supplies, food, supplements and medical and emotional growth care, so that they achieve their full potential for sports and then respond to the expectations of their community when they become athletes and attend top national, regional and world competitions.

INEFI opened the final of the National School Basketball Tournament

During the INDÓMITA-RD launch ceremony, the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) left open the final of the National School Basketball Tournament, culmination of the Intramural Games that began in October with the participation of students from the 122 Educational Districts and the 18 Regional Directorates of MINERD.

The teams will be competing until next Friday at the Palacio de los Deportes for the men, while the women will do so at the Albergue Olímpico del Ensanche La Fe.

The “National School Basketball Tournament” is organized by the Ministry of Education, through INEFI, after nine years of its latest version.

It is the VIII male version and the third for the female line.

This national basketball tournament is the result of the qualifying rounds carried out in the 122 school districts, with their intramurals, and the qualifying rounds in the 18 Education Regionals.

They will operate teams representing the South, East, Northwest, Northeast regions and the Metropolitan Area.
