The WTA has already presented the format that the WTA calendar in 2022 for the first few months. There will be quite a few changes compared to 2021, as a calendar much more similar to what it was before the pandemic is recovering.

The start to Australia
The WTA has already confirmed the calendar for the first six months of competition. In the first week of January, two WTA 250s will take place in Australia Melbourne; and another in Adelaide. The following week, in Sydney and Adelaide Two other WTA 250 tournaments will be hosted, in addition to the previous Australian Open, which return to Melbourne. As a culmination, the Open de Australia, to be played from January 17 to 30.
February and March, without great news
After the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, which will also impose mandatory vaccination on its participants, the circuit will move to St. Petersburg, to compete in a WTA 500 from February 7 to 13. A week later, the circuit will move to Dubai; and another after, to Doha, to play the first WTA 1000 of the year. In the same week of Doha, the 250th of Guadalajara, before closing the month with Monterrey and Lyon.
In March, as usual, will take place, back in its proper place on the calendar, the WTA 1000 of Indian Wells and Miami, from March 9 to 20; and from March 22 to April 3, respectively.
The most loaded clay tour
The clay court WTA tour in 2022 will begin in Charleston, in the traditional green land of which Ashleigh Barty was champion in 2021. In the same week (the first of April) the 250 of Bogota. Immediately afterwards, they will transpose until Istanbul, before playing, in a ten-day event, the Mutua Madrid Open.
Already fully in May, the WTA 1000 of Roma, before Strasbourg, Rabat and Colonia (all WTA 250) serve as a prelude to Roland Garros, which will be played from May 22 to June 5.
The grass tour returns to its being
As Roland Garros ends, the WTA 250 of ‘s-Hertogenbosch to get the grass tour going. Next, the WTA 250 of Birmingham and the WTA 500 of Berlin. In the last week before Wimbledon, the tournaments of bad Homburg and Eastbourne.
