The Union has a location and a date for its new stadium which will cost 70 million euros

It is now common knowledge that the Union Saint-Gilloise plans to build a new stadium. The Brussels team wants to give the club more possibilities for growth. But how concrete are these plans?

“Studies have been done and we have a location in mind,” Philippe Bormans told Het Laatste Nieuws. “The intention is to move to Vorst, a short walk from the Joseph Marien stadium.

The architect has also already been involved. “It will not be a bombastic stage,” continues the CEO of the Unionists. “But an enclosure which, depending on the development of our supporters, will have 17,000 to 22,000 seats.”

“I may be naive, but I hope we can move into the new stadium in 2024,” Bormans adds. “The budget is also in order. Lanford (the owners’ holding company) is bearing the entire cost, which is seventy million euros.”
