“The team against which I most want to play well are the Warriors”

Steamroller at the start of the season, the Warriors are the team to beat in the big league. An All-Star didn’t mince words about them, saying it was the opponent who motivated him the most! We will have to scrutinize his next match against them closely.

On paper, Damian Lillard’s mission is quite simple to describe: to score as much as possible, against anyone. With nearly 25 career average points, we can say that the leader of the Blazers has played his role rather well since his debut in 2012. We have often seen him achieve monstrous boxes, especially during the month of January 2020 when he turned over 34 units per encounter!

Nonetheless, when asked if he has a favorite “victim”, No.0 doesn’t have to think long. Recently questioned by fans on the subject, he revealed his answer: Golden State is the opponent who heats him the most. While the fact that Californians have dominated the league for much of the last decade is bound to play a role, it also has a pretty personal relationship with them:

Damian Lillard surmotivé face aux Warriors

I wouldn’t say I’m playing harder, but I would say I’m generally at my best or trying to be at my best when playing against the Warriors. Maybe a little bit because they are originally the team from my hometown, but also because I have a lot of loved ones, friends and family in the audience that is there. to see me play, and that’s all the better since I’ve been in the league, the Warriors are the best team in the league.

With the success of their team, and Steph Curry, who has a Hall of Fame career and is the greatest Warrior of all time, it’s a challenge enough, but I have to face it in front of my family and friends who don’t see me as often as before and don’t see me play as often. It is obvious that I will give the best of myself and try to keep an unforgettable memory.

Originally from Oakland Bay, Lillard grew up with the exploits of the Warriors version “We Believe” with Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson and Mickaël Pietrus. It is therefore not surprising that he shows such determination to shine in front of them! Chance or not, it is also against the Dubs that he signed his career record, one evening in January 2020. In complete fire, he will thus register 61 points, leading his team to victory in overtime:

The next clash between the Blazers and Golden State will take place on December 9 and February 25. So expect Damian Lillard to be hot as embers for these evenings! We could have the right to a beautiful fireworks display.
