The sleigh rider Aparjode wins the bronze stage in Sochi / Article

The German Jūlija Taubica won, making two races in one minute and 39,434 seconds. Her compatriot Natalia Geizenberger was 0.368 seconds behind and was second, while Aparjode finished the winners three in 422 seconds behind the winner.

Elīza Tīruma reached the 6th place, while at the beginning of the third decade, two more Latvians Sigita Bērziņa and Ulla Zirne earned the place, ranking 22nd and 24th, respectively.

In the first race Aparjode was fourth, Tīruma finished the best six, but Bērziņa and Zirne took the 19th and 25th place in the competition of 28 participants, respectively. Kendia was also fourth in the second race.

It has already been reported that Kendija’s brother Kristers Aparjods won the men’s competition in Sochi on Saturday, while Andris and Juris Šici won bronze in the two-crew competition.

At the end of the stage, competitions in the non-Olympic sprint discipline will take place on Sunday, where Aparjods, Gints Bērziņš, brothers Šici, as well as Aparjode and Tīruma will start.

There will be nine stages in the World Cup season until the second half of January, including the seventh stage on January 8-9 in Sigulda, where the last points in the Olympic qualification will be available.

It is expected that at the Beijing Winter Olympics, Latvia will be represented by three women and one man, as well as two doubles crews.
