The precision shooters protecting the king are trained in shooting from ships and helicopters

The Royal Guard is routinely subjected to intense instructional activity. In the case of the Honors Group, in addition to the military capabilities that he develops with the Precision Shooters Team, the Mountain Group and the Diving Group, his mission is focused on render honors King Felipe VI and other members of the royal family, as well as heads of state and foreign ambassadors. He is also part of the guard of the Palacio de la Zarzuela.

As you may have learned Confidential Monarchy, a precision shooter team made up of three people, including a delegate from the Royal Guard, has participated in the maneuvers organized by the Armed Protection Force (FUPRO), belonging to the Marine Corps. FUPRO is in charge of carrying out training exercises that test the reaction capacity of the participants.

The exercise has taken place between November 28 and December 3, both inclusive, as confirmed Confidential Monarchy. During the maneuvers, the Royal Guards used Accuracy AWF precision rifles in caliber 7.62 x 51mm and Barret M82 semi-automatic rifles in caliber 12.7 x 99mm.

Honors Group snipers who traveled up to Cádiz they moved to the maneuvering and shooting range of El Retín (Barbate) to exercise on land, where they fired both daytime and nighttime arches.

To train the shots from the air, the Royal Guard used a helicopter AB-212 belonging to the 3rd Squadron, as a platform from which to train different modalities and shooting procedures. The aircraft used is a medium-sized, twin-engine helicopter, powered by a double PT-67-3 package and with two-bladed main and tail rotors.

The maneuvers at sea have been carried out on board the frigate F-84 Reina Sofía, which since 1990 is used in national and multinational exercises. The last operation carried out by this ship was between October 2020 and February 2021, fighting piracy off the coast of Aden and Somalia.

In the exercises organized by the Navy, teams from TERSUR (Tercio Sur de Cádiz), TERLEV (Tercio de Levante in Murcia), AGRUMAD (Agrupación de Madrid), USCAN (Security Unit of the Canary Islands-Gran Canaria) and TERNOR (Tercio Norte) participated of La Coruña).
