The NBA recovers two figures after serving quarantine for coronavirus

The superstars of the Brooklyn Nets Kevin Durant y Kyrie Irving They left isolation for covid-19 after 10 days of quarantine, the franchise reported on Tuesday.

The last game played by Durant, the NBA’s leading scorer with 29.7 points on average, was in the December 16 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers while Irving has not made his debut this season due to his refusal to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

This decision by Irving prevents him, due to the protocols against the virus in New York, from playing the games at home in Brooklyn and therefore the Nets they removed him from the team before the start of the campaign.

On December 18, the Nets they backed down and announced the reinstatement of their base All-Star, but that same day Irving had to go into quarantine for covid-19.

Durant could return to the courts in the Nets’ next game Thursday against the Sixers in Brooklyn, while Irving, who can only play as a visitor, could be available on January 5 against the Pacers in Indiana.

The Nets have suffered one of the most important outbreaks of covid-19 among NBA teams, which also affected the other star, James Harden and caused the suspension of three games, but nevertheless they have managed to stay in the lead of the Eastern Conference.

The NBA is going through an unprecedented COVID-19 wave that has quarantined nearly 200 players and six coaches this month alone, resulting in a nine-game suspension.

To ease pressure on squads, the NBA cut the minimum quarantine period for players who test positive for COVID-19 from 10 to six days on Monday, provided they are vaccinated and asymptomatic.

This Tuesday several NBA figures entered the protocol against the coronavirus, such as Darius Garland (Cavaliers) or Bogdan Bogdanovic (Hawks), while others rejoined with their teams, such as Anthony Edwards (Timberwolves) or Evan Mobley (Cavaliers).
