The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, and the Councilor for Sports of the City Council, María del Mar Martínez, received this morning in the Plenary Hall two young athletes from the municipality, Samuel Martos and Lucía Marín, who stand out for their promising careers in two specialties different
Alhaurín de la Torre Town Hall Press Samuel, at 14, has achieved numerous victories in Judo. The last and most famous triumph was the silver medal that he achieved in the Andalusian Championship. Despite the fact that he has been a year and a half without training for the Covid, Martos won this very worthy runner-up, within the tournament held at the end of November in the Rincón de la Victoria, in the Children’s category of -46 kg. The young man has been very satisfied with the work done and his successful career so far, and assures that he wants to dedicate himself to this sport in the future as well.
For her part, Lucía Marín, only 9 years old, obtained the bronze medal in the Individual Base Cup of Rhythmic Gymnastics, Benjamin category, also held in November in Valladolid. The athlete belongs to the Aldetor Club of Alhaurín de la Torre and has stated that she feels passion for this specialty. Lucia, despite her young age, has already shown that she can become a benchmark in this sport.
The Councilor for Sports stressed that it is a “pride” to have both young promises in the municipality, both at a sports level and in their efforts to combine their training and tournament dynamics with their studies.
Likewise, he wanted to wish them luck in their future, and together with the mayor, he has given both of them various gifts, accompanied by their families.
