‘Txefo’, who died this Sunday at the age of 59, was linked to the Biscayan club for about four decades “always ready to do anything”
Ceferino Elorza Mendiluce has died at the age of 59, around four thirty in the morning this Sunday, leaving a huge consternation and a huge void in the Getxo Sports Club, to which he was linked for about four decades. The funeral will be held on the 9th, at six in the afternoon, in the church of San Ignacio, in front of the Town Hall.
All the directors of the gualdinegro club included ‘Txefe’ or ‘Txefito’, which is how they affectionately called the players of all the teams from their fellow managers. «It was quite an institution. The most beloved person on the entire Board of Directors ”, highlights Iñaki Gerediaga. The president of the historic club from Alicante highlights his perpetual “dedication” to work and help the club in a selfless way. “He was always ready to do anything.” Gerediaga comments excitedly that he began helping in the entity, but “he was so honest and so hard-working that everyone loved him and all the boards included him.”
The sudden death of ‘Txefe’ has generated surprise and even disbelief in the wide circles in which he moved and they treated him with that appreciation that he earned with his humility and his almost eternal smile. His enormous heart encompassed the large number of friends who feel his departure with consternation and his two soul clubs, because he was also devoted to the entity of Ibaigane. «Athletic was his other great club. I was always on top with both of them, ”recalls Javier Landeta, president of the Basque Football Federation.
Always “affable and loving”
Landeta draws a ‘Txefo’ “always affable and affectionate” whom he knew many years ago, and who knew that “in the worst moments he was always there. He was the one who related to the federations. It was quite an institution. Loved by the players of all Getxo categories, for whom he was always in the mood and instilled positivity in the most delicate moments, ‘Txefe’ leaves a deep mark where he has stepped.
At Taberna Dos de Ledesma, in Bilbao, they highlight the “most pleasant memory” of a man with healthy habits and customs, who asked for his simple salad of onion and lettuce as a starter to finish with an apple without forgetting the water with which he watered his food . And it is that ‘Txefe’ was like that, clean of heart, transparent of personality, healthy of treatment, simple as a person and dedicated to all those around him.
