The Blazers fired their GM, Neil Olshey | NBA

Accused of handling the Blazers brutally, Neil Olshey was on probation in Oregon. The owner of the club, Jody Allen, had thus mandated a law firm to investigate the management of her GM.

And after a month, the franchise explains that the independent investigation concluded that the General Manager, in office since 2012, “violated the Code of Conduct” of the Blazers, and he is therefore fired. It is Joe Cronin who is promoted as interim GM, while Portland puts in place the process to find his final GM.

For the franchise, it’s the end of an era as Neil Olshey has shaped the team for nearly a decade.

It is thus him, after having been GM of the Clippers, who drafted Damian Lillard, or who recently made the choice to appoint Chauncey Billups as coach. It also remains to be seen under what conditions his contract is broken. A point on which the other leaders will be very attentive, while they fear that these breaches of the “Codes of Conduct” will allow the club to separate from their leaders by avoiding paying them compensation.

The appointment of Joe Cronin is in any case not a gift, while the Blazers are 9th in the West (11 wins – 12 losses), that choices arrive (Robert Covington, Jusuf Nurkic …) and that the future Damian Lillard, who has long considered a transfer to the offseason, is not assured in Portland.
