Teerasil Dangda Now AFF Cup Top Scorer of All Time

Teerasil Dangda’s two goals not only drove Thailand to the semifinals of the AFF Cup 2020. Teerasil is now the sharpest player in the tournament’s history. Top!

Teerasil led Thailand against the Philippines in the third match of Group A at the National Stadium, Kallang, Tuesday (14/12/2021) afternoon WIB. Teerasil gave Thailand a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute with a volley in front of goal.

The Philippines equalized through Patrick Reichelt in the 57th minute before Teerasil restored Thailand’s lead with a penalty in the 78th minute.

Thailand won 2-1 and also qualified for the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals with nine points, six points ahead of the Philippines in third place with one game remaining.

Thailand will face Singapore in the last match. With his two goals, Teerasil leads the top scorer list with four goals with Malaysia’s Safawi Rasid.

Not only that, Teerasil also established himself as the all-time leading scorer of the AFF Cup with 19 goals, two goals ahead of former Singaporean Noh Alam Shah.

Even though he is 33 years old, Teerasil is still reliable and will most likely add to his goal coffers in this event. Teerasil has even been the top scorer three times in 2008, 2012, and 2016.

In 2016, Teerasil reached his most productive year in the AFF Cup with six goals.

Behind Teerasil Dangda and Alam Shah were Worawot Srimaka (15 goals), Le Cong Vinh (15 goals), Le Huyhn Duc (14 goals), Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto (13 goals), and Bambang Pamungkas (12 goals).
