Team García comes back to win the All-Star Game of winter baseball

Team García came back to prevail with an 8-4 result against Team Machín and dominate the Stars game of the 2021-22 winter baseball season, this Sunday, at the Roberto Clemente Walker stadium in Carolina.

The activity, organized by the Association of Professional Players of Puerto Rico (Apppr), brought together the 40 most outstanding players of the tournament on the same stage.

With the match 3-2 in favor of Team Machín in the sixth inning, Team García leveled the score on a single by Brett Rodríguez. Then Abdiel Layer’s sacrifice fly brought the lead run into the legs of Xavier Fernandez.

In the seventh act, Team Garcia added two laps with a grounder in the box by David Hensley and a solo homer by Ryan Grotjohn. Hensley’s home run with a running back on board increased the lead in the eighth.

Team Machín’s fourth race was driven by Nelson Velázquez, in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Team García was the first to step on the plate in the first inning, but Team Machín responded and went to the front with a three-lap bouquet in the third inning. Rodriguez double approached Team Garcia with a hairline in the fourth inning.

Right-hander José Cruz Molina was the winning pitcher and Julio Morales took the loss. Kennys Vargas of the Carolina Giants was voted the MVP of the event by hitting three hits in four at-bats. He stayed at one homer to complete the offensive cycle.

The home run competition was won by Nelson Velázquez, of the Caguas Criollos, with eight homers. In the final round he dominated Danny Ortiz, of the Mayagüez Indians.

They honor Mike Pérez

Prior to the meeting, the Apppr recognized the trajectory of its former president, Mike Pérez. As part of the ceremony, he received a poster from the organization’s president, Yamil Benítez. He was accompanied by former players José Geraldo León and Nick Ortiz.

With the same tenacity, dedication and commitment that you showed in your career as a pitcher in the Major LeaguesYou worked here always seeking to improve the working conditions and benefits of the players in our organization and to have them respected ”, expressed Benítez.
