Poland’s Iga Swiatek parted ways with her coach Piotr Sierzputowski after working with him for more than five years, as announced on social networks.
Sierzputowski helped develop Swiatek’s game from the youth circuit to professional, leading her to the Wimbledon junior title in 2018 and the French Open Grand Slam two years later.
He was also named Coach of the Year in 2020 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), the same year that Swiatek was named the most progressing player on the WTA Tour.
“This change is really a challenge for me and this decision was not easy either. I discovered that sometimes in our professional lives we need changes to develop further, evolve and meet other people. I would like to thank the coach for everything he did for me, “added Swiatek.
Swiatek did not name his replacement before the 2022 season. He finished this season in ninth place and won the titles in Adelaide and Rome.
