Sport welcomes 2022 with many illusions – Sports

The third time is the charm and after two years (2020 and 2021) to forget, the sport of Alto Aragón is excited again. It is an important year that starts and with a lot at stake. For SD Huesca another opportunity to try to make history by ascending to the First Division, although the situation is not easy. For CB Peñas it is key to its future beyond sports, due to the serious economic crisis it is going through. And Bada Huesca once again has the illusion as a flag with the challenge of fighting for everything in the league and getting excited about Europe.

The rest of the clubs in the province have exciting goals such as CH Jaca, Intec Zoiti, Hinaco Monzón, Badminton Huesca and a long etc. who expect to compete at the highest level. Do not forget about women’s sport and its increasingly leading role in Alto Aragón.

Another year for events to return to normal. The Quebrantahuesos will return to the month of June, the Orbea Monegros de BTT has scheduled its return for April, the Trail Aneto Posets will fill the mountains of Benasque with athletes in July, as well as the rest of cycling events, mountain races and other sports that place to the province as a great sports scene.

And in their own names, the Dani Osanz, Arcas, Samitier, Barceló, Castrillo, Martí Vigo, Inés Bergua, María Eizaguerri, Gabi Torralba, Celia Abad, Pol Oriach, head a long list of athletes who have a great future ahead and sure that they will continue taking steps forward in multiple sports disciplines.

Let’s hope that the covid is moving away from us and from the sport and that allows us to train and compete in the best conditions. 2022 is coming from which we must hope for the best, but with the prudence that has taught us these last two years where obstacles have had to be overcome, but where athletes, clubs, entities and organizers have shown their strength in the province of Huesca .

Here you can listen to the sports summary of the year 2021

2021 Sports Summary

We all thought that this year things would be similar to what we were used to in sport and it is true that the competitions returned, the public to the stands and the events could be held, but always marked by sanitary measures and not one hundred percent. hundred. We have to wait for everything to be the same again in social and sports life.

SD Huesca descended from the First Division after a difficult year and where Pacheta was about to achieve the miracle. A goal was missed on the last day against Valencia, after a season without an audience in the stands of El Alcoraz, which did not benefit the Huesca people who saw as their most direct rival, Elche, they did have that support in the last and decisive match.

He went down to the Second Division and the truth is that things have not gone as expected. First with the bet of the Mexican Ambriz on the bench and then the arrival of Xisco Muñoz with what is expected to take a step to still have some qualifying option, although right now it is far from the objectives. Disappointment in a hobby that has criticized the decisions of the board of directors. Another news that leaves us this year is the departure of José Antonio Martín “Petón” from the club, although he will continue in the Alcoraz Foundation and with important future projects for the entity that maintains economic balance, although the accounts have been splashed by the covid-19.

The worst part has been taken by CB Peñas and that they managed to avoid relegation in a last game in which they did not even play. A Murcia basket against Orense allowed the supporters to remain in the LEB-Gold, but now the concern is the serious economic crisis that endangers the continuity of the club. To this end, the “let’s save basketball” campaign has been launched and the fact is that the debt is very important and the support of the whole world is expected to obtain the financial resources that are lacking. In sports, things don’t look very good either with two victories in ten days.

The Bada Huesca itself has closed a good year. He had a great season fighting with the best and almost achieving a European place for the second time in his history. He played the ASOBAL Cup and the final phase of the Copa del Rey. In this campaign and until December, the injuries have conditioned him and even so he has maintained the type and has options of everything in the second round. Economically it has also been affected by the pandemic, but it maintains a solid project.

The titles for CH Jaca returned with the Copa del Rey and again with people from home a very competitive team has been achieved. The skating and curling sections maintain their progression, as well as the other clubs that are joining. Intec Zoiti debuted in the Honor Division, it was a different competition due to the pandemic and it was a nice experience, despite the decline. The Hinaco Monzón teams achieved permanence in the First Division. Badminton Huesca La Magia also remained in the First Division. Also in chess, Jaime Casas de Monzón continues in the highest category of the Honor Division.

Football celebrated a full season with many relegations to restructure the categories and with many new features. The ascent of Huesca B to the Second RFEF was the most outstanding. The girls remained in the First National and came down from the Third clubs that had been for many years such as Almudévar, Sariñena or Tamarite, in addition to Fraga or Sabiñánigo. A joy was the rise of Biescas to the category of Third Division. In professional football, the presence for another year of the Monegrino referee Santiago Jaime Latre, accompanied by Fernando Tresaco as an assistant, in the First Division should be highlighted.

Regarding the events, without a doubt the greatest joy is that they have been able to be celebrated, although it has been at half gas and with the consequent measures by the covid-19. The Bearded Vulture together with the Treparriscos took place in September on a hellish day due to the rain that made thousands of cyclists decide not to start. The BTT HU-108 was also held, which seeks to consolidate itself. With fewer participants the Great Trail Aneto Posets is disputed. The tests in the natural environment such as mountain races have been returning to the calendar, especially the Canfranc-Canfranc for its international repercussion or the Guara Somontano. The Benasque Chess Tournament was also played in difficult conditions due to the covid and the Descent of the Cinca.

The Orbea Monegros BTT, which has announced that it will return in 2022, did not take place for the second year, as well as other cyclists and events such as that we hope will resume after the hiatus of the pandemic. The one that we will not see in 2022 is the Jesús Luis Alós Cross Memorial, but in this case due to different circumstances.

The young athletes have shone and names such as Dani Osanz, Gabi Torralba and the five professional cyclists Fernando Barceló, Jorge Arcas, Jaime Castrillo, Sergio Samitier and Martí Vigo. Especially noteworthy was the performance of Arcas in his debut in the Tour de France and of Barceló who ran the Tour of Spain. María Eizaguerri and Inés Bergua. The chess player has made history in Spain and together with the gymnast they compete at the highest international level. Osanz, Torralba and Bergua have been elected the best athletes in Aragon in the last two years.

In athletics there are many promises with names that stand out such as Pol Oriach who has lived a great year of success and goes from Hinaco Monzón to Nike taking the step to professional, Eva Rico, Teresa Santolaria, Pablo Castanera, Laura Pintiel, Elena Guiu, among others continue to excel in their national competitions. Alberto Puyuelo lives a second youth and has been runner-up in Spain. And of the rest of the sports, perhaps the most remarkable thing is badminton and the great quarry with Raúl Bergua, Gonzalo Isabal, Alejandro Gállego or Alejandro Yagües who have enjoyed titles in their category and who are great promises of this sport with others that come stomping from behind. In other disciplines the quarry tightens behind what is undoubtedly a very good sign of the future, such as Celia Abad in skiing, as well as athletes from CETDI or from clubs such as gymnastics.

There are many more names that deserve to be in this summary and it is that the clubs and athletes fight against all odds to regain normality that could not be in 2021. We will have to wait and hope that this nightmare passes soon and the sport regains its pulse and athletes, clubs, entities and organizers can shine again as usual until now and is that the regional and provincial competitions of many sports continue, but at a slow pace and always with the shadow of the covid present.

And little else can be highlighted this year in which we said goodbye to many sports people such as the president of the sports press Jaime Ferrer, the former president of the Spanish Fishing and Casting Federation and member of the COE, Miguel Ángel Zaborras or the former president from Huesca, José María Mur, among other people closely linked to sports in clubs and entities in the province.
