Shin Tae-yong’s spicy comments shocked Thailand’s coach ahead of facing the Indonesian national team in the 2020 AFF Cup Final : Okezone Bola

COMMENT Shin Tae-yong’s spiciness surprised the Thai coach. The thing that Tae-yong talked about was related to Thailand’s possession of the ball which he considered not good.

Of course, Tae-yong’s scathing words immediately shocked Thailand’s coach, Alexandre Polking. Because he did not expect the slanted words to come out of the South Korean coach.

What made Polking even more incredulous was that he felt that Thailand’s possession was fine and not as Tae-yong had said. Polking considered the Thai midfielders to be very good and able to control the ball very well.

“That’s quite surprising. In my opinion, there is no problem with possession of the ball (Thai National Team). We have a lot of good midfielders,” Polking said during a press conference ahead of the first leg of the 2020 AFF Cup final, Tuesday (12/28/2021).

Polking also felt that maybe Tae-yong saw Thailand’s bad game against Vietnam in the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals. For this match, Polking admitted that Thailand did look different and didn’t really care about ball possession because the opponent he was facing was Vietnam.

“I understand maybe against Vietnam we did look different. Because we do take a different approach,” he continued.

Polking’s words are true, because Thailand has always been able to collect at least 50 percent of ball possession throughout the 2020 AFF Cup. However, Polking himself doesn’t mind this because for him the important thing is to win.

“We just want to win and don’t really care about possession. We are not a team that cares about possession. So, I don’t feel there is anything wrong in terms of our possession,” continued Polking.
