Ahead of facing Thailand in the 2021 (2020) AFF Cup second leg final, coach Shin Tae Yong push players Indonesian National team playing abroad as done A Maulana Vikri and Witan Sulaeman.
Egy Maulana and Witan Sulaeman are two Indonesian national team players who appear in European clubs. Egy is the mainstay of FK Senica in the Slovak League, while Witan is in Lechia Gdansk.
According to Shin Tae Yong, having a career abroad will be very important for the Red and White Team players.
“This is very positive, hopefully this can be a good step for Indonesia,” said Shin Tae Yong in a press conference ahead of the match against Thailand, Friday (31/12).

A number of transfer rumors emerged involving the Red and White Team players who appeared in this year’s AFF Cup. Two PSIS Semarang players, Alfeandra Dewangga and Pratama Arhan have been linked with South Korean clubs to Europe. Arhan Primary is said to be targeted by Seongnam FC from South Korea.
Playing abroad, called Shin Tae Yong, can have a good impact on young Indonesian players.
“I hope players go abroad, to Japanese, Korean, or European leagues, so they can learn a football culture that has advanced achievements,” said Shin Tae Yong.
“That way there will be developments for Indonesian football,” added Shin Tae Yong.
The Indonesian national team will face Thailand in the second leg of the 2021 AFF Cup final at the National Stadium, Singapore, Saturday (1/1). In the first leg, Indonesia was 0-4 against Thailand.
