The football world laughs at two swallows: In Norway, a goalkeeper provokes a red card for his teammate. In Brazil, Deyverson is responsible for the strangest swallow of the year.

Norway’s premier football league, Eliteserien, is not necessarily well known for major football highlights. A scene from the weekend from Kristiansund BK’s game against Viking Stavanger should be on everyone’s lips. Stavanger goalkeeper Patrik Gunnarsson and team-mate David Brekalo clash in added time. Brekalo pushes his goalkeeper twice, who theatrically goes to the ground after the second contact and remains there. Compared to the Aftenblad, Gunnarsson stated that a clarification campaign was the trigger for the dispute. Brekalo should have cleared a cross because he did not get a signal from the goalkeeper to let the ball pass.

Brekalo was so angry after his goalkeeper’s play that several teammates had to calm him down. After a brief consideration, referee Kristoffer Hagenes sent Bekalo to take a shower. It is unclear whether the midfielder will be allowed to play again on the remaining two game days – the season in Norway runs from April to December. Ten of them had a 3-2 lead over time and they can dream of participating in the Europa Conference League in the coming season. However, Viking tried to limit the damage and posted a picture of the two fighters hugging at the airport.

In the Bundesliga, too, there has been a dismissal after a dispute among other players. In the Revierderby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 in February 2003 Dortmund’s goalkeeper Jens Lehmann attacked BVB striker Marcio Amoroso and was sent off.

Strange swallow in Brazil too: Deyverson lives up to its name

But that’s not all of the curious swallows last weekend. Because the incident from Norway was topped in Brazil. In the final of the Copa Libertadores, the South American counterpart to the Champions League, Palmeiras and Flamengo Rio de Janeiro meet when Deyverson goes down as if struck by lightning in extra time. Only: He was not hit by an opponent, but by the referee.

After a little tussle at the edge of the penalty area, Deyverson, who played eight games for 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga in 2015, was in brief with the referee. This solved the situation and gave Deyverson a light pat, which had a great effect on the attacker. The 30-year-old rolled over the lawn, badly hit, until he realized he wasn’t hit by an opponent. The curious swallow also took important seconds off the clock, Palmeiras celebrated a 2-1 success and won the Copa Libertadores. Who scored the decisive hit? Exactly, Deyverson.
