San Sebastián champion! Espaillat Superior Basketball tournament

Reaches crown 16 by beating La Cancha, Kevin Núñez was MVP

MOCHA. – The San Sebastián club dominated the La Cancha 105 × 81 team in the sixth game and achieved their crown number 16, in the XXVII version of the Espaillat Superior Basketball (BSE), dedicated to the Administrative Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza and in Option to the Banreservas Cup.

The Red Empire quartet, made up of Juan Miguel Suero, Delwan Grahan, Nargenis Ulloa and the MVP of the final series, Kevin Núñez, were the deadly weapon on offense by combining 79 points and annihilating La Cancha’s defense, in the Dr. Rubén Lulo Gitte roof.

Those led by Joel Cruz and Vladimir Frías, were crowned for the fourth time in a row and become the first BSE team to achieve two streaks of 4 championships in a row. San Sebastián dominated the first, starting in 1996-2000, five in a row and now from 2017 to 2021, highlighting that it was not played in the 2020 season, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The champions San Sebastián kept dominating the entire match. At halftime they went with a 50 × 30 advantage, and they never gave their opponents from La Cancha a chance with their strong offense and defense in the match that had the endorsement of the Dominican Basketball Federation (FEDOMBAL).

BSE freshman Kevin Nunez was voted the MVP of the final series by averaging 15.6 per game, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Champion Cup Delivery

The San Sebastián players and their executives received the Banreservas Cup, from Serafín Arroyo, president of the Espaillat Basketball Association (ASOBAE), Yorelbin Dargilio Rivas Ferreras, Espaillat Chief Prosecutor, Anny Candelier, assistant to the governor of Espaillat, Juana Rosario de Candelier, Colonel José Francisco de la Cruz Mercedes, commander of the Espaillat Police department and Ariel Vásquez provincial director of MIDEREC.

After receiving the delivery of the Champion trophy, San Sebastián fans, players and managers set out in a large caravan to the Don Bosco neighborhood, home of the BSE champions of Moca.

For the champions they shone on offense; Juan Miguel Suero 25 points, Delwan Grahan 22 points and 14 rebounds, Nargenis Ulloa 16, Kevin Núñez 16 and Elizaur Muñoz 12 points. On The Court; Andy Perez 21 points, Jerome Dyson 13, Delvi Almonte 12 and Warlyn Disla 11 points.
