Saint-Girons. Judo: 200 competitors in the departmental tournament

A departmental judo tournament has just taken place at the Buffelan gymnasium. It brought together more than 200 fighters, girls and boys. All the major Ariège clubs – Lavelanet, Foix, Pamiers, Tarascon, Saint-Girons… – were present for this first sporting meeting of the season. The judokas of the principality of Andorra were also in the game, invited by the Ariège judo committee.

A return to competition expected

The Couserans Dojo, organizer of the meeting with the Ariège judo committee, has implemented the federal protocol to be able to safely welcome all the competitors and accompanying persons (hydro-alcoholic gel, control of health passes, direction of movement, disinfection of the combat surfaces between each group of competitors…).

Despite the difficulties – linked to the health situation and to the fact of not having been able to use the large room of the Buffelan gymnasium – the managers and volunteers of the club have succeeded in the bet to organize this year this great sporting gathering, eagerly awaited by the Ariègeois judokas.

Progress in technique and fighting spirit

The joy and wonder of being able to practice judo in competition again and especially to receive their first medals as a reward were highlights of the day for the girls and boys present.

The meeting lived up to the expectations of the organizers, who were able to observe a progression on the technical level and on the combativeness of these young judokas.
