Slovenian basketball player Zorans Dragičs is terminating the cooperation with Kaunas “Žalgiris”, represented by Latvian basketball player Jānis Strēlnieks, by mutual agreement, the unit announced on Friday.
An agreement with the Slovenian basketball player was reached on the last day of October until the end of the season, but on the last day of the year the team announced a mutual agreement between the parties to suspend cooperation.
The 32-year-old basketball player “Žalgiris” played nine games for ULEB Euroleague in a shirt, scoring an average of 3.9 points and winning 1.2 rebounds. In the meantime, he played four matches in the Lithuanian championship, with an average of 6.3 points and three rebounds.
Before joining Žalgiris, Dragičs played for Vitoria Baskonia for the last season and a half, and last season he played 33 matches in the Euroleague, averaging 8.5 points and winning 1.6 rebounds.
During his career, he played for the Euroleague for seven years, representing teams such as Unicaja in Malaga, Khimki in the Moscow region, Emporio Armani in Milan and Anadolu Efes in Istanbul.
Dragic also has experience in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the 2014/2015 season, he represented the Phoenix Dog and the Miami Heat.
The Slovenian has been representing his national team since 2010 and was one of the team leaders at the Tokyo Olympics, averaging 12.3 points per game, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
The team of Kaunas “Žalgiris” with three victories in 16 games in the Euroleague takes the last place in the competition of 18 teams, but in the Lithuanian championship the Kaunas team has lost only once in 14 matches and is in the leading position.
