Roberto Pérez makes his debut with the Indians

The receptor Roberto “Bebo” Pérez will participate in today’s game, Wednesday, at the Isidoro “Cholo” García stadium when the Indians of Mayagüez receive the visit of the Santurce Cangrejeros from 7:10 pm

Pérez announced his return to the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League on December 16. The last time Perez played with the tribe was in the 2015-16 season where he hit .314 in 16 games..

“Finally came the day. I feel happy and, above all, ready to play again in the city where I was born. I have worked hard on my recovery, I have not seen a field of play for months and it is time for it to begin and what better than with the Indians of my town“Said the recipient through a written communication.

“We are going to work every day to see pitches and catch the playing time, but the most important thing is that I can help the boys and the team to get that championship that Mayagüez is waiting for so much,” he added.

Pérez participated in 44 challenges last season for Major League Baseball (MLB). He posted a .141 batting average after a finger operation on his right hand.

The two-time American League Gold Glove winner, he wore the now-Cleveland Guardians uniform for eight years. In 2022 Pérez will wear the uniform of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Last November, he signed a one-year contract for $ 5 million with the organization.
