Reasons for Losing in the 2021 Badminton World Championship Finals, Tai Tzu Ying: I Lost Fast to Akane Yamaguchi : Okezone Sports

HUELVA – Taiwan’s women’s singles, Tai Tzu Ying, failed to win at the 2021 Badminton World Championships. She also revealed the reason behind her defeat to Akane Yamaguchi (Japan) in the final.

Match at the Palacios de los Deportes Carolina Marin, Spain, Sunday 19 December 2021, Akane dominated the match which took place in two games. In addition, Tai Tzu Ying is also overshadowed by injuries to his right thigh and leg.

As a result, the world number one women’s singles badminton player had to acknowledge Akane’s prowess in two games (14-21 and 11-21). This result also extended Tai Tzu Ying’s bad record when he met Akane in various competitions.

Reflecting on the results of the match, Tai Tzu Ying did not want to blame the injury he suffered. Instead, he praised Akane for playing very fast and aggressively.

“The pace of the game was very fast and I couldn’t control it,” said Tai Tzu Ying.

“I didn’t find a way (to turn things around) or my game. I was a bit passive and behind in the score.”

“It’s true, I had some problems with my body in the second game, but maybe I was in too much of a hurry and I couldn’t keep up with the game because he was too fast.”
