PSG: Abdou Diallo and Milan, it’s getting hot … a little

While Abdou Diallo will soon play the African Cup of Nations (January 9 – February 6) with Senegal, will he then return to PSG? The winter transfer window opens its doors this Saturday, January 1 and the PSG defender is closely followed by AC Milan. As announced Monday evening by Sky Sports Italia and L’Équipe, the Lombard club has started to establish contacts with Parisian leaders about the future of the player trained in Monaco.

The capital club is listening to this issue which could unlock liquidity and clarify the sporting future of the Senegalese. Discussions have turned for the time being on the question of a transfer or a loan. The first option would appeal to the Parisian staff, but its demands could prove to be too high for AC Milan. The second would have the advantage of a sporting solution for the defender, somewhat stuck in Paris.

Since the end of October, Diallo has played only four games with PSG out of the 13 possible, each time at the post of central defender in order to let Presnel Kimpembe, the holder of the post of left axial, breathe. Competition should increase in this place with the more frequent presence of Sergio Ramos that PSG hopes to find in good shape at the start of 2022.

Final transfer or loan?

Diallo had been used much more at the start of the season by Mauricio Pochettino but at the left-back position, even delivering an assist for Mauro Icardi against Strasbourg in August (4-2). The native of Tours then alternated with the Portuguese Nuno Mendes but the return to the group of Juan Bernat relegates him to a role of replacement.

However, nothing is done in this case that would take him to Italy while AC Milan is in urgent search of a replacement for Simon Kjaer. The Danish defender suffered a knee injury and will be out until the end of the season. Discussions between clubs revolve around a transfer or a loan. And AC Milan also approached the entourage of the 25-year-old left-hander, recruited in the summer of 2019 by PSG against 32 million euros from Borussia Dortmund.

But the Italian club is studying other avenues. According to our information, information has been taken on the French Issa Diop (West Ham) but his club wishes to keep him. Finally, this Tuesday morning, the Italian press also mentioned the track leading to Attila Szalai, Hungarian defender of Fenerbahçe in Turkey. A file cheaper than that of Abdou Diallo if the PSG did not wish to lend its defender.
