Post-incident All England 2021, BWF Will “Specialize” Indonesia Page all

KOMPAS.com – The Badminton World Federation (BWF) will always prioritize Indonesia after the All England 2021 incident.

All England 2021 will be an uncomfortable tournament for Indonesian badminton athletes.

They were forced to withdraw from the tournament because of a plane with a patient infected with Covid-19, so all athletes had to undergo quarantine.

Even though it is an official regulation of the British government, there is a different treatment applied by the All England committee and the BWF.

This was Marcus’ question, considering that the Indonesian badminton team had undergone a PCR test upon arrival at the hotel and the results were negative.

Regarding the All England incident, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC) felt they had to play a role because it was regulated in the Olympic Charter.

In point 2.5 on the mission and role of the NOC it is written explicitly that the NOC must take action against all acts of discrimination and violence in sports.

Through President Raja Sapta Oktohari, NOC met BWF President Poul Erik Hoyer Larsen on the sidelines of the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals, Sunday (5/12/2021).

On that occasion, NOC Indonesia tried to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.

“He apologized directly, although previously it had also been said openly,” continued Okto.
