Omar Perotti together with national authorities, advanced in the organization of the South American Youth Games Rosario 2022

Governor Omar Perotti met Monday with the Chief of Staff of the Nation, Juan Manzur; and with the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Matías Lammens, to advance the details of the organization of the III South American Youth Games 2022, which will take place in the city of Rosario between April 28 and May 8 of the year next.

The meeting took place in the Casa Rosada and the mayor of Rosario, Pablo Javkin; the secretary general of the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA), Sergio Groupierre; and the province’s Sports Secretary, Florencia Molinero.

At the end of the meeting, the governor stressed that “it was a very good meeting”, while expressing “all the expectations” generated by being able to carry out this contest.

Likewise, Perotti recalled “the difficulties caused by the postponement of last year, which was the original date of the Games, because the magnitude of the pandemic led to the suspension at that time. That was one of today’s topics: ratify the Today the organization does not generate doubts, already with a health agency very different from that one “.

In this regard, the provincial leader remarked that “there is vaccination, there has been development of competencies in recent times”, and added that “the protocols that the Olympic Committee will define with greater precision” will be applied, but valued “the commitment assumed by the Nation. , province and municipality to carry out “the Games.

The governor also referred to the difficulties that it generates for “the organization and realization of these types of events not having the approved Budget, but it will be necessary to redirect games and work with the people of Sports and Tourism of the Nation to collaborate in the organization in everything what is the operability of an event of this type, “said the president.

And he concluded: “We are going to work together to facilitate the flow of resources, above all, the commitments that must be assumed thinking about accommodation and food for more than 3,000 athletes who are going to be in the city of Rosario.”

For his part, the general secretary of the COA, Sergio Groupierre, said that “these Games are very important since the 15 countries that make up the South American Sports Federation are going to participate.” And he added that “the meeting with the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers was very positive”; at the same time he highlighted “the joint work between the Nation, the province and the Olympic Committee.”

Meanwhile, the province’s Sports Secretary, Florencia Molinero, stressed that “for Santa Fe it is a very important event, due to its great magnitude; and for athletes from Santa Fe to host an Olympic Game is a great experience.”

In turn, the mayor of Rosario, Pablo Javkin, indicated that “for the city, despite all the difficulties, it is a source of pride to be able to overcome and organize this important event.”

– MULTIDISCIPLINARY GAMES

Athletes between 14 and 17 years of age participate in the Games, from all the countries of South America, and also some from the Caribbean and Central America. The South American Sports Organization (Odesur) is in charge of taking them forward.

In this context, from April 28 to May 8, 2022, the city of Rosario will host some 3,000 athletes from 15 Odesur member countries who will compete in 26 sports during the 11 days of competition.

It should be noted that the first edition was held in the city of Lima (Peru) in September 2013, and the second in Santiago, Chile between September 29 and October 8, 2017.

Unlike previous editions, Rosario 2022 will base its organization on an innovative format of the Single South American Park, with Parque Independencia as a sports center, where all the disciplines will be developed. There will be a main awards center located at the South American Fan Fest, reaching an unprecedented strategic centrality in competitions of this type. In addition, there will be a split sports program that will allow better operational logistics.

Participating in the event Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Curaçao, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. And the sports that will compete will be: Athletics, badminton, beach handball, 3 × 3 basketball, boxing, cycling, climbing, fencing, futsal, artistic gymnastics, hockey 5, judo, karate, weightlifting, olympic wrestling, swimming, figure skating, speed skating, rugby 7 , skateboarding, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery and triathlon.
