NFL: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif declared positive for COVID-19

After doing his part to counter the pandemic, Quebec football player Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who is also a doctor, tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. Decidedly, it does not go to merit.

The name of the New York Jets color bearer is indeed on the list of NFL players who have tested positive. Quarterback Joe Flacco has also been affected in New York training while head coach Robert Salah is also sidelined due to COVID-19.

Duvernay-Tardif, who is one of the favorite athletes of Quebecers, was rightly named “Patriot of the Year 2020-2021” by the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste (SSJB) of Montreal, Wednesday, for his hard work outside the land during the pandemic.

A medical graduate from McGill University, Duvernay-Tardif had indeed chosen to take a complete break from football in 2020 to help the Quebec health system, getting involved in a CHSLD in Saint-Jean-sur- Richelieu.

At the beginning of December, a Journal poll, in collaboration with the Léger firm, crowned Duvernay-Tardif as Quebec sports personality of the year. The friendly football player, with 27% in the ballot, was then ahead of the tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime (22%).

The presence of “LDT” on the NFL COVID list is not without raising a problem within the Goodell circuit. Some players are currently accused of covering up symptoms in order to be able to continue their season. However, they come to endanger the other athletes.

Unless there is a turnaround, Duvernay-Tardif should miss this Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium between the Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars, he who was just recovering from an ankle injury. Flacco would also be left out as Zach Wilson will be the team’s starting quarterback.

Crowned Super Bowl champion in February 2020 while playing with the Kansas City Chiefs, Duvernay-Tardif was traded to the Jets on November 2.
