FC Barcelona want to part with striker Luuk de Jong after only six months. This is reported by the Spanish sports newspaper Sports world. Accordingly, the departure of the Dutchman, who was loaned from Sevilla FC in the summer, is already a done deal.
And there should already be a new club for de Jong: FC Cadiz wants to borrow the attacker for the rest of the season. The three clubs involved had agreed on this deal, but de Jong still had to give his okay.
Shortly after the change of coach at Barca from Ronald Koeman to Xavi, it was speculated that de Jong could become one of the big sufferers of the change. The Dutchman hadn’t been able to convince with good performances before, with Xavi on the bench it didn’t get any easier for him: He was only used in three of the last eight league duels, two of which were short appearances lasting a few minutes. He was only allowed to run the full distance in the 2-2 draw in Pamplona near Osasuna.
As the bottom of the table, Cadiz needs reinforcement in the relegation battle. With only 15 hits in 18 games, things are still not going well on the offensive. Now de Jong could help there.
