Negotiations with Ousmane Dembele failed for the time being

The negotiations about a contract extension between FC Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele have failed, at least for the time being, according to information from SPOX and GOAL.

Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko met with Barca officials on Wednesday afternoon. But the talks did not go as planned.

Dembele, whose contract expires this summer, the Catalans offer is too low. The two parties are currently far apart with their respective ideas. Still, Barca are not giving up hope.

The offensive player also confirmed his wish to stay in Barcelona in a conversation with coach Xavi. Xavi himself recently stated that he thinks it is “very important” to keep Dembele on his team.

The fact is, however, that the former Dortmund will be able to negotiate with other clubs from January 1st without having to inform Barca about it. Saying goodbye in winter is anything but impossible.

The Frenchman moved from BVB to Barcelona in 2017. In the current season, the 24-year-old has played eight competitive games for the Spaniards and prepared two goals. He has not scored a goal so far.
