NBA mourns Sam Jones, the second most successful player with 10 titles | NBA

Former American basketball player Sam Jones has died at the age of 88. With ten championships, he is the second most successful player in NBA history,

Sam Jones celebrated his ten championships between 1959 and 1969 with the Boston Celtics. Only his then teammate Bill Russell has more championship rings, namely eleven.

In the glory years of Jones and Russell, the Boston team only missed the title in 1967. It then went to the Philadelphia 76ers.

In 1969, after his tenth title with the Celtics, Jones called it quits. He made more than 15,000 points in the NBA in 12 years.

Jones was inducted into the American Basketball League Hall of Fame in 1984. In 1996, on the NBA’s 50th anniversary, he was named one of the 50 best NBA players of all time. His number 24 may never be used again with the Boston Celtics.
