Municipal Sports Corporation awarded the best athletes of 2021

26 athletes were decorated after having obtained high-level achievements during the year 2021, either nationally or internationally, which were chosen by the sports associations and / or clubs themselves of the disciplines volleyball, weightlifting, bodyboarding, judo, rugby, bodybuilding, hockey, sandboarding, cycling, kyokushin karate, kickboxing, fencing, sailing, softball, baseball, pole sport, athletics, open water, para-powerlifting, jiu-jitsu, badminton, water polo, basketball, boxing and tennis.

This was highlighted by the president of the CMDR board of directors, Mayor Jonathan Velásquez Ramírez, “For me it is very important, because today we were able to meet the elite of Antofagasta sports, young people who stand out in different sports, in different sports disciplines. We were able to see fencing, sailing, basketball, baseball, bodybuilding, and they are also young people who worked hard, because we must not forget that they also had to train a lot at home during the time of the pandemic. As mayor, it makes me really proud that as a municipality and sports corporation, we can help the development of these young people ”, he assured.

It should be noted that the Municipal Sports and Recreation Corporation provides constant support to the athletes of our commune, through free programs, the delivery of sports implementation, award items for different tournaments, among other initiatives to which Braulio Otárola Rojas, director CMDR executive invited to join, “That they don’t stop wanting to search for their dreams, that they keep training. We as a Corporation are going to try as much as possible to always help them, we have several programs and, as I said in the speech at the ceremony, we also want to specifically support their needs. That they look for us, they contact us through our networks that we are here to help them ”, he pointed out.

For his part, Roberto Guzmán Funes, outstanding athlete in 2021 of the emerging pole sport discipline, highlighted the happiness that this important awarding event gave him, “I feel very happy because I think it is the first time that this sport, which is quite new and quite contemporary, has stood out, and that the necessary enhancement for this discipline still keeps me very, very happy.”
