LSF recalls that German started last season with two starts in the FIS in Austria at the end of November and the beginning of December, winning the slalom and earning 23 and 26 points from the International Ski Federation (FIS), respectively. It was these two competitions that allowed the best Latvian skier in the world to enter the top 100 and at the same time reach the 84th place.

The success of the season was different, but the brightest moment was in the adult world championship in Italy, where at that time only a 17-year-old Latvian entered the top 30. Valmiera won the 24th place and secured the best place in the world championships during the time of independent Latvia, lagging behind her mother in the discipline achieved in 1989 by Ulla Lodziņa.

In the off-season, after the microtrauma, the athlete needed to have knee surgery. Therefore, neither in November nor in December did the athlete start the competition. The recovery process went well with gentle training. In December, German could already hide without pain. She was preparing for the opening of the season in mid-January, after which she would start in her first Olympic Games.

The fall and injury on Wednesday have drawn a streak on these plans. The fall in the slalom training in Italy was a complete failure, as the skier broke his collarbone, which is very rare in slalom.

Currently, LSF does not predict a possible return to the snowy tracks.
