Peruvian Frank de la Sotta won the bronze medal in bowling at the first Cali-Valle 2021 Junior Pan American Games in Colombia, after falling in the semifinals against Jonaykel Conejo Barrientos, from Costa Rica.
Rabbit edged De la Sotta 430-303. In the first row, the Costa Rican athlete made a wide difference with a score of 245-136. The second line was more even in terms of score (167-185 in favor of Conejo), but that was not enough for the Peruvian to go to the final.
As there is no match for third place, both Frank de la Sotta and Felipe Gil, from Colombia -who lost to Edgar Burgos, from Puerto Rico- they entered the podium of the discipline.
The medals were achieved by Edward Alarcón (2 silver, gymnastics), Edward Gonzales (silver, gymnastics), Yumiko Tanabe (silver, judo), Kiara Arango (silver, judo), Eliana Vásquez (silver, taekwondo) and Ángelo Caro ( silver, skateboarding).
Also on the podium were Inés Castillo (bronze, badminton), Javier Saavedra (bronze, judo), Noemí Huayhuameza (bronze, judo), Arnold Prado (bronze, judo) and Santiago Villegas (bronze, weightlifting).
