KOMPAS.com – Indonesia without a title in the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals after Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo lost to Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi (Japan) in the final match.
Marcus/Kevin have to settle for being runner up after being defeated 16-21, 21-13, and 17-21 in the final which took place at the Bali International Convention Center, Sunday (5/12/2021).
This is the third meeting in a row between Marcus/Kevin and Hoki/Kobayashi.
The previous two meetings took place at the Indonesia Masters (16-21 November) and the Indonesia Open (23-28 November).

Of the three meetings, Marcus/Kevin recorded one win and two defeats.

Meanwhile, at the Indonesia Masters and BWF World Tour Finals, they had to settle for being runner up.
Meanwhile, Marcus/Kevin admitted that Hockey/Kobayashi performed better in this match.
“The match was very tight. We admit they played very well today,” Marcus Fernaldi Gideon told the media after the match.
“We have to be honest, very tired. Today the whole body hurts a lot. They also feel the same, but yes indeed Hockey / Kobayashi played very well,” continued Marcus.

Marcus / Kevin actually had a chance to finish the match with a win when they turned ahead in the third game.
The world’s number one men’s doubles was far behind at the beginning of the third game at 0-6.
They slowly approached until the interval 6-11, before turning to lead 15-14. However, Kevin admitted that he and Marcus were unable to continue the momentum.
