Luis García was the great surprise of Houston

For some, 2021 represented a challenging year in the Major Leagues; however, for others it served as inclusion in the best baseball in the world. Well, Luis García, managed to sneak among the most respected pitchers in the American League with the Houston Astros.

The young man of just 24 years was the real surprise of the siderales in this 2021 campaign and all thanks to his dominance on the mound, which led him to finish in second place in the voting for the Rookie of the Year award, won by the outfielder. Randy Arozarena.

In just his first full year in the MLB, García dodged several obstacles and with a balance of 11-8, Bolívar’s finished as the rookie with the most wins in the Young Circuit; in addition to closing as the most dominant with 167 strikeouts in 155.1 innings.

He was also one of the key players in the World Series against the Atlanta Braves and managed to become the second Creole with two starts in the same fall classic since Lester Straker did it in 1987 with the Minnesota Twins.
