Liverpool Vs Newcastle: Salah was replaced after making a record, Klopp gave an explanation

KOMPAS.com – Liverpool coach, Juergen Klopp, revealed the reason for replacing Mohamed Salah in the match against Newcastle United.

Liverpool just won over Newcastle United in week 17 of the Premier League or the highest caste of the English League 2021-2022.

The Liverpool vs Newcastle match which took place at Anfield Stadium, Thursday (16/12/2021) or Friday (17/12/2021) early in the morning, ended with a score of 3-1.

Diogo Jota (21′), Mohamed Salah (25′) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (87′) scored Liverpool’s winning goals, respectively.

For Mohamed Salah, one goal against Newcastle made him even more comfortable in the first place in the list of top scorers in the Premier League 2021-2022.

The Egyptian national player has scored 15 goals so far this season. He beat his team mate, Diogo Jota, who is in second place with a score of 9 goals.

The goal also brought Salah to equal Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy’s record as a player to score or assist in 15 consecutive Premier League games.

Even so, Salah was not played for 90 minutes by Jurgen Klopp. Salah was withdrawn in the 74th minute and replaced by Roberto Firmino.

The camera’s eyes shone on Salah, who looked unhappy with Klopp’s decision.

After the match, Jurgen Klopp explained his reasons for replacing Mohamed Salah.

Although not in detail, Klopp indicated it was done to give Salah time off.

The reason is, Salah will most likely be relied on by Liverpool since the early minutes when they play against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

“Today was the right decision to replace him early. We will play three more days,” Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport, as reported by Mirror.

Jurgen Klopp did not forget to appreciate the achievements of Mohamed Salah who always managed to score goals or create goals assist in 15 consecutive Premier League games.

Victory over Newcastle makes Liverpool currently collect 40 points and are in second place in the 2021-2022 Premier League standings.

Liverpool are only one point away from Manchester City, who topped the standings with a record 41 points.
