Ligue 1: Monaco separates from its coach Niko Kovac

It’s a beautiful story which, as often for a coach, ends badly. Arrived in the Principality in July 2020 to take over from Robert Moreno, the Croatian Niko Kovac is no longer the coach of AS Monaco. This Thursday evening, L’Equipe and RMC announced that he had been received by its managers who told him of their desire to separate from him. Monaco currently occupies sixth place in Ligue 1 after 19 days, four points off the podium.

If everything started very well last season for Kovac, whose tactical sense had seduced, things have deteriorated since the start of this new season. He had partly lost the locker room and his handling of the Ben Yedder case, regularly placed on the substitutes’ bench, undoubtedly cost him his job.

He is the second Ligue 1 coach to know this fate this Thursday after Laurent Batlles in Troyes.
