Ligue 1: 10,000 euros fine for OM after discriminating remarks during the match against Troyes

The Disciplinary Commission of the LFP has ruled. Following comments deemed discriminatory, OM was fined 10,000 euros. On November 28 at the Stade Vélodrome, discriminatory words against the Asian community were spoken against the South Korean player from Troyes, Huyn-jun Suk. Amazon Prime Video’s microphones picked them up quite easily. Indeed, the meeting took place in a stadium that sounded hollow due to a closed session decreed by the LFP after the OM-PSG incidents of October 24. OM won 1-0 in a match where the South Korean international entered in the 76th minute.

ESTAC was quick to react by issuing a press release on November 30 in which the Aube leaders strongly condemned “racist remarks”. OM also intervened, through its president Pablo Longoria, who contacted his Trojan counterpart, Aymeric Magne to “apologize for OM to the player and the Troyes club. “

The disciplinary commission thus sanctions the institution but not a specific person. If the remarks had been made by members of the Marseille staff, the investigation did not appear to have determined the perpetrator. However, the two clubs agreed in a joint statement to “ask for explanations from the authors and take the necessary action”.
