Havana, Dec 6 (ACN) A large group of 131 members of the Cuban delegation that so worthily represented the island in the I Junior Pan American Games Cali-Valle 2021, returned to the island on Monday led by the medalists of wrestling and Greco-Roman, Athletics and Baseball and Weightlifting.
The delegation that arrived on a charter flight was also made up of badminton, triathlon archery and fencing athletes, as well as coaches and federation, who at the José Martí International Airport, were received by the first vice president of Inder, Raúl Fornés Valenciano, the official of the Party’s Central Committee, Daniel Baz Pérez and the second secretary of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), Lisara Corona Olivares.
On behalf of the athletes, the fighter, Milaimis de la Caridad Potrillé, said: “After intense days of competition, we are satisfied with our duty accomplished. We are proud to have contributed to the joy of the people, ratifying the solidity of the reserve of our sport that since the beginning of the revolution was led by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, who made it a right of the people ”.
The second secretary of the UJC, when welcoming him, said that those medals hanging on their breasts can be of different colors, but they all bring the medal of dignity.
“That is why we are here, because we know that the result of 70 medals, of which 29 gold, 19 silver and 22 bronze, were won with great courage, courage, sacrifice and commitment and not only did it for Cuba, but for a people who were anxiously waiting for you every day, because you represented the country, “he said.
In statements to the press, the national commissioner for baseball and softball, Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, said he was very satisfied with the work of the Cuban players who attended these games with the commitment to compete in a jovial, cheerful and dignified manner.

For his part, the president of the Cuban Weightlifting Federation, Jorge Luis Barcelán, emphasized that in this period of preparation of 10 microcycles the results are satisfactory, because the weightlifters delivered and grew in their sporting results since they had an increase of between 13 and 63 kilograms.
