Ski jumper Ryoyu Kobayashi has won the first race in the Four Hills Tour in Oberstdorf. The Japanese was still sixth after the first round, but thanks to his unparalleled second jump of 141 meters, he outperformed his competitors.
Kobayashi (25) won the tour three years ago and then triumphed as the third jumper on all four jumps. In Oberstdorf he was already twice the winner.
Stoch fails
Norwegians Halvor Egner Granerud and Robert Johansson finished second and third. Granerud came in the second jump to 133 meters and a total score of 299.2 points. Johansson, who was still leading after the first moto, came to 298.6 points.
Defending champion Kamil Stoch did not qualify for the second round. The 34-year-old Pole, three-time Olympic and two-time world champion, is therefore immediately without a chance for his fourth overall victory.
The Four Hills Tour continues on Saturday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
