Kim Huybrechts after victory at World Cup darts: “My worst match at World Cup ever” | Darts

Huybrechts’ average was nothing to write home about and his figures were also below average when casting out (on the doubles). He only threw out on 10 of his 46 chances, luckily opponent Steve Beaton did even worse.

“This is my worst game I’ve ever played in a World Cup,” said Huybrechts. “I was nervous, but Steve had the same problems. I have to be honest: I did not immediately have a good preparation. With the corona conditions and my wife who works, I had to watch the children.”

“If I had lost now, I would have gone home immediately to celebrate Christmas in peace. Now I will stay here for a few more days and I want to be there for the next match. I will also train for six hours every day.”

After the eliminations of Dimitri Van den Bergh and Mike De Decker, Huybrechts is the only Belgian still in action at the World Cup. For a place in the eighth finals, Huybrechts is presented with the Welshman Gerwyn Price, the reigning champion and also the number one in the world, in a match to the best of 7 sets.
