Jesolo will host the 2024 World Youth Karate Championships

Jesolo won. The city has been chosen by the World Karate Federation as the host venue for the 2024 World Youth Karate Championship. The event will take place in October. It will involve athletes from 5 continents representing over 100 countries. According to forecasts, it will bring over 6,000 people to the city.

Jesolo’s candidacy was launched by the municipal administration in recent months. In November the mayor Valerio Zoggia and the councilor for Sport, Esterina Idra, met the leaders of the Italian Federation of Judo Fight Karate Karate Martial Arts (FIJLKAM) formalizing the project to the president Domenico Falcone, to the head of the Karate sector, Davide Benetello, and to the president of the National Race Commission, Marco Scaramuzza.

Last November 15th, during the World Karate Federation congress hosted in Dubai, FIJLKAM supported Jesolo as the host venue, winning the candidacy thanks also to the excellent results achieved by its athletes at the last Tokyo Olympics (1 gold and 4 bronzes).

World Championship

An appointment therefore in the first two weeks of October, over the course of 5 days.

It will involve athletes in the youth categories, then Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20. The event will be valid for the qualification path for the Youth Olympics scheduled in Dakar in 2026.

The event is expected to bring about 2,500 athletes to the city. 500 technicians, managers and match officials will be added, but also another 3,000 people as accompanying persons in various capacities, for a total of about 6,000 people.

The station

The venue will be the PalaInvent, a structure in which the administration has carried out an inspection with the top management of FIJLKAM and which in the coming days will host the 29th edition of the Venice Senior & U21 Cup karate competition as well as the Karate 1 Youth League. The Karate 1 Youth League, a high-level international sports competition, is expected by many Italian and foreign athletes as well as by national teams.

The event aims to highlight the skills of karatekis aged 12-17. It will make new young people known and approached to this discipline. The Venice Senior & U21 Cup, on the other hand, also allows Senior and U21 athletes to compete in the same venue as the Youth Olympic Qualifiers. The 29th edition of the Venice Senior & U21 Cup race will take place on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9, which anticipates the Karate 1 Youth League scheduled from 10 to 12 December 2021.
