THE 2022 ARCHERY CALENDAR

2021 was the year of the restart, with a calendar flooded with many events also due to the postponements due to the pandemic. Not least will be 2022 with races one after the other and some of the most important events such as the European Targa, the World Games and the 3D World Championships.

Many events in which the Azzurri will try to win medals, but Italy will also be the protagonist at an organizational level. Indeed, next year will be the return of major international events to our country. The European Para-Archery Championships have been assigned to Rome, which will take place from 2 to 8 August, while the best archers in the world of 3D discipline will return to Terni, who will compete in the world championship scheduled from 5 to 11 September.

It should be noted that all the international events of 2022 will not offer passes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, but they will be very important test benches in an Olympic key, given that in 2023 tickets to get there will instead be up for grabs. in France…

It goes without saying that the national calendar will also be particularly rich, considering that there will be 12 Federal Events in total: it will start from January with the Paralympic indoor in Macerata and end in December with the usual Italian Youth Centers Cup which will be organized again in Gerenzano. As always, space for all disciplines with the various Italian championships, including the highly anticipated commitment of the Italian Regions’ Cup and the confirmation of two new federal events: the Italian Master Cup and the Italian Naked Cup Cup.

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS – The 2022 of the international competitions will begin in Nimes – covid permitting – and will continue in Las Vegas with the two stages of the Indoor World Series, including the final, which will be held between 14 and 16 January and 4 and 6 February. They will be the general rehearsals for the Lasko European Indoor Championships scheduled in Slovenia between 14 and 19 February. In between, a small but very important parenthesis with outdoor competitions: from 18 to 27 February in fact the Azzurri will be involved in the Para-Archery World Championships in Dubai, where the world championships will be played outdoors while in our continent it will still be the middle of winter .

The international outdoor season of the Olympic and compound national team will begin from April 18 to 24 with the first stage of the World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, an event that will continue the following month, from 16 to 22, in Gwangju, South Korea. Italy’s presence ensured from 2 to 8 May in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where the European Grand Prix will take place.

Red circle already put in place for some time in Cantalupa on the dates ranging from 6 to 12 June when the European Championships will be staged in Munich, Germany. The summer will be long and full of events, in rapid succession will arrive: the third stage of the World Cup in Paris (20-26 June), the Mediterranean Games in Oran, Algeria (26 June-5 July), the University World Cup in Chengdu, China (June 27-July 6), the Para-Archery European Cup in Nove Mesto (July 2-10) and the World Games, in Birmingham, United States (July 7-17), the stage of World Cup in Medellin (18-24 July) and the Youth Cup in Bucharest (25-31 July).

As per tradition, archery will not stop even in August with the Paralympic European Championships in Rome followed by the European Youth Championships in Lilleshall scheduled from the 15th to the 20th of the month. In September the finals of the European Cup Para-Archery will be held in England, while at the beginning of the month, from 5 to 11, the arc world will turn its gaze back to Terni for the 3D World Cup, before attending the European Team Cup Final of 17 and 18. The following weekend will be the turn of the World Cup finals with a venue yet to be defined, while the season will end with the World Campaign Championships in Yankton from 3 to 8 October.

THE CALENDAR OF FEDERAL EVENTS – The season of federal events will also be rich, starting as usual with the Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championships, organized in 2022 in Macerata, the European city of sport, on 29 and 30 January. The second appointment will close the season indoors and Rimini will once again be the theater of the Italian Indoor Championships scheduled from 3 to 6 March: a particularly important appointment because on this occasion there will also be the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Fitarco and it is also planned a presence of almost 2000 archers, double the number of participants than usual.

A month and something more later, more precisely on 24 and 25 April in Ascoli Piceno it will be the turn of the Italian Club Championships followed from 18 to 19 June by the Regions Cup, one of the most anticipated events, hosted in the wonderful Paestum scenario. . The following weekend, space for the Italian Master Cup in Pistoia and seven days later, on 2 and 3 July, it will be the turn of the very youngs to compete for the National Final of the Pinocchio Trophy in Palmi (Rc). On 16 and 17 July the Tricolori Targa Para-Archery will be disputed in Lanciano, while the Italian Campaign Championships will be held in Castellarano, in the province of Reggio Emilia, from 22 to 24 July.

At the end of August the best Italian archers will meet again in Oderzo, in the province of Treviso, for the Italian Targa Championships scheduled from 26 to 28 August. Before the end of the season there will be space for the 3D Italian Championships in Sardinia, in San Vero di Milis (23-25 ​​September), for the Arco Nudo Italian Cup (8-9 October) in Settimo Torinese and finally the Italian Youth Centers Cup. (17-18 December) in Gerenzano, province of Varese which will close a long and demanding season as usual.
