You announced your resignation in July at the age of 32, Roger Federer is now 40, Stan Wawrinka 36. Can you understand why they haven’t dared to take this step yet?
It’s an extremely personal choice. I think it also makes a difference whether you are a woman or a man. They both already have children. And for me there were also back problems. I would like to have children one day and be able to play sports with them. Don’t be restricted because of your back. How Roger played in Roland Garros this year showed me that his inner fire is still burning. If Roger, Stan or Serena (Williams) want to continue, why not? And it’s different with them than with me: You can call any tournament and get a wildcard.
