New Delhi, Dec 29 (EFE) .- The Asian Games in China, promoting electronic sports (eSports) and the organization of the Women’s U-17 World Cup are the main challenges for Indian sport in 2022.
ASIAN GAMES 2022
India is preparing for the next Asian Games, to be held in China in September, and where it is expected that the country will continue to progress as it did in the Tokyo Olympics, in which they achieved the maximum amount of metals in their history.
With 672 metals achieved so far, the country hopes to increase its medal count by standing out in its great specialties: cricket, badminton, field hockey, wrestling and shooting, among others.
PROMOTE SPORTS
Today, India is one of the least developed countries in electronic sports, a discipline that next year will be included in the program of the Asian Games, and in countries such as China or Vietnam they capture all eyes and serve as example in the Asian region.
However, the potential of the Indian population in the development of technologies and the resurgence of the sport during lockdown can rapidly boost this discipline and make India globally competitive.
WOMEN’S WORLD SOCCER UNDER-17
The country will host the 2022 U-17 Women’s World Cup for the first time in its history next October, with which it is intended to give visibility to the king of Europe’s sport in a nation dominated by cricket.
This competition also wants to serve as an opportunity for growth for women, who in countries like India continue to be discriminated against and separated from society for practicing a sport that is still considered for men.
