Globalcaja and CA Cuenca renew their sponsorship for another year

Almost ten years supporting the Cuenca Athletics Club. This is how the alliance between Globalcaja and the Cuenca entity remains after its annual sponsorship agreement has been renewed. This initiative is thus added to the many others carried out by Globalcaja to support sport in the province, such as support for basketball, badminton, cycling or soccer. The agreement was ratified in an act with Carlos de la Sierra and Aída López, presidents, respectively, of the Globalcaja Cuenca Foundation and the Cuenca Athletics Club.

Aída López, who during the signing of the agreement has been accompanied by Julio Torrecilla, secretary of the Club, has highlighted the importance it has “for any sports club and especially for us, who are very active, the support of organizations and entities , because without them it would not be possible to carry out so much work and achieve so many achievements ”. Aída López has been very grateful to the Globalcaja Foundation for its unconditional support and commitment to sport, especially for the one received by the Club that she presides over.

For his part, De la Sierra congratulated the Club for the achievements made this year and congratulated the president on her recent appointment, also emphasizing the importance of supporting the sport for Globalcaja, especially minority ones, since “We not only understand sport as competition, but as a form of integral development of the youngest, which transmits such important values as commitment, perseverance or respect” and which is achieved by being close to them. In this sense, from the entity, De la Sierra has assured, they will keep intact their commitment to supporting the sport.

One of the activities that the Club carries out is the participation in various competitions, such as the CSD Championship of Spain of autonomous federations Sub 16 on track, which this year was held in Cuenca in October and which had an impeccable organization and a very outstanding participation, in which 850 athletes from 18 regional federations competed in the different events held at the renovated Luis Ocaña track. Another important event that the Cuenca Club has recently attended, in Santiponce (Seville) where it has participated, along with two other Cuenca teams, such as the Tarancón Athletics CD and the Tarancón Run Faster, has been the Spanish Country Championship A Través and the International Cross of Itálica, one of the most recognized national events and that this edition has had more than 2,500 athletes from 53 teams in each category (Sub-16, Sub-18, Sub-20, Sub -23 and Absolute).

In both competitions, the athletes from Cuenca achieved relevant results that are worth highlighting because these events have the participation of the best national athletes and, in some cases, international ones. In addition, in 2021, they were present in another 13 Spanish RFEA and CSD championships, in which they have achieved great success so far and in which they hope to be able to participate again.
