Forbach. The Opération Fun association creates Mission Forbach Warrior, its first event for teenagers from Forbach

The forbach association Opération Fun – formerly CK Sport before its recent name change – was created in 2011 by Karim Chakhite, a child from Wiesberg who became a PE professor at Jean-Moulin college. First offering football camps, it has broadened its activities and for two years now has been organizing sports but also leisure stays for municipalities and works councils throughout France.

From Monday to Friday, 30 children between 12 and 17 years old, divided into three teams, have combined sport, solidarity and culture through various activities such as bubble football, archery, graffiti or the “Forbach Express” , an unprecedented local version of the famous game show from the M6 channel. “Ten beacons scattered throughout the city so that they can learn about its culture and its history, requiring solidarity and team spirit to win,” explains Karim Chakhite, whose goal is to develop knowledge, know-how and skills of the participants. “In order to promote living together and universalize access to knowledge and culture,” he explains. This Friday, the winning team will even make the warrior of the week triumph.

Subsidized nearly 70% by the State via the City Policy system and 30% by the City of Forbach, which made the Burghof center available, the cost of this week of leisure was € 10 per child. Whether it is to manage the registration of young people via social centers, the provision of facilitators or the supervision of activities, many local partners have participated in the process such as ASBH, CMSEA, CCAS, the association of Wiesberg ECDE, the P’tits debrouillards or the table tennis club.

More participants in the future?

“The 12-17 year olds are a difficult age group to capture, but there was no absence and nobody wanted to go home at night”, relates Karim Chakhite, who deduces that the proposed week was ” quality “. Enough to already foresee a second edition next year, on a date to be determined. “With why not more participants, and not just priority neighborhoods. ”
