FIFA rejects Hugo Broos and South Africa match fixing complaint | World Cup preliminary round

Go back in time. South Africa lost 1-0 to Ghana in Group G of the African World Cup qualifiers in mid-November. Trainer Hugo Broos saw the World Cup slip through his fingers, although according to him there was an odor to the match.

South Africa did not give in and filed a complaint with FIFA for match fixing. FIFA brushed that complaint off the table today, without sharing further details.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) is furious with the decision and feels “robbed by the Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye, who awarded a dubious penalty to Ghana”.

“We have received the decision without any details and will therefore review the next steps,” the SAFA CEO added. The end of this story is not yet in sight.
