FC Barcelona’s plan to fill its coffers thanks to the new Camp Nou

In a few years, the Clasicos will have, visually, a completely different identity from the one we know today. Indeed, the Santiago Bernabéu is in the midst of its renovation work in order to make the Merengue arena a real cash machine, not to mention the aesthetic and practical aspect, with a sliding roof in particular. On the Barça side, there is also this Espai Barça project, aimed at carrying out a total overhaul of Camp Nou and its surroundings. Behind these reforms, both in Madrid and Barcelona, there is the desire to generate new sources of income.

This Wednesday, a general assembly to present the referendum of December 19 – aimed at validating the request for credit to finance the work – was held on the side of Barcelona. In particular, we learned that Barça leaders could request a loan of up to 1.5 billion euros, including 900 million intended for Camp Nou alone, repayable over 35 years. The end of the work is scheduled for 2025. The construction of a new Palau Blaugrana for basketball and handball teams as well as the construction of other infrastructure are also planned.

A naming for Camp Nou

But this operation should quickly be profitable, since the objective of the leaders is to release an additional 200 million euros annually thanks to this Espai Barça. And that is the minimum amount, since they believe they can even pocket double! There will be the naming of Camp Nou and Palau Blaugrana (basketball / hand / shows hall), which could bring in around 48 million euros annually.

However, it should be noted that during the 2022/2023 season, Barça should play in a stadium that is partially closed due to construction work, then play in another stadium during the following year, as Real Madrid could have done. in the 2020/2021 season, moving to Real Madrid Castilla pitches in Valdebebas. If Barcelona management’s forecasts prove to be correct, this Espai Barça should considerably replenish the club’s coffers in the future!
