Anadolu Efes Head Coach Ergin Ataman reacted to the Turkish Basketball Federation’s (TBF) rejection of their application for the postponement of the Afyon Belediyespor match, which they will play in the ING Basketball Super League, tomorrow at 18.00.
Stating that they met with Bayern Munich on the road in the 14th week of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague yesterday and they just arrived in Istanbul today, Ataman reminded that Afyon Belediyespor announced that they will compete with the Basketball Development League (BGL) team in the continuation of this season, and that they have two important events during the week. He said they will play in the EuroLeague game.
Ergin Ataman said the following on the subject:
“We have just landed in Istanbul and we are going to Afyonkarahisar by bus for 6 hours to play with Afyon Belediyespor’s BGL team before the double match week in EuroLeague. Postpone the game to the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF), take it to Istanbul or at least tomorrow. We said it would be played at 13.00, but TBF said, “We can’t change it, the game is at 18.00”. Before the EuroLeague double match week, we also take a 6-hour bus ride to Afyonkarahisar. On Tuesday, we take two very important trips with Baskonia and on Thursday with Maccabi. We have a match. Even if Afyon Belediyespor plays as a full team, it’s still okay, but even its coach calls us and says, “Sorry, I won’t play the game either. Our BGL team will play the match.” The federation is the audience, there is no positive approach to this situation. It’s a situation that hurts us.”
