Draw round of 16: FC Bayern threatens PSG in the knockout round – this is what the pots look like

Defending champions Chelsea FC, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Liverpool FC, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain – the top favorites for the Champions League title had already qualified for the round of 16 in the premier class.

With Atlético Madrid, the next top team secured the ticket for the round of 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday. The Rojiblancos won 3-1 (0-0) at FC Porto and secured second place in Group B behind Liverpool FC.

So there are still four places open, with Group G in particular with VfL Wolfsburg promising a lot of excitement. All four teams in the group can still qualify for the knockout phase.

Lottery pots for the Champions League round of 16 draw:

Preliminary round opponents and teams from the same national league cannot be drawn against each other.

The draw for the round of 16 will take place next Monday, December 13th, at 12:00 noon in Nyon (live ticker at Eurosport.de).

The first leg of the last sixteen will take place on 15./16. and 22./23. February 2022, the second leg on 8./9. and 15./16. March.

RB Leipzig (Group A), FC Porto (B), Borussia Dortmund (C), Sheriff Tiraspol (D), Zenit St. Petersburg (H)

Status before the last matchday on Wednesday:

GROUP E:

Benfica (3rd / five points) could qualify for the round of 16 with a win against Dynamo Kiev if FC Barcelona (2nd / seven points) do not win at Bayern.

GROUP F:

Atalanta Bergamo (3rd / six points) and FC Villarreal (2nd / seven points) face each other in a direct duel. A draw for the round of 16 is enough for Villarreal. Bergamo could be overtaken by Young Boys Bern (4th / four points) in the event of a defeat.

GROUP G:

OSC Lille (1st / eight points), FC Salzburg (2nd / seven points), FC Sevilla (3rd / six points) and VfL Wolfsburg (4th / five points) can all reach the round of 16 on their own. Curious: For VfL, the home game against Lille is only about the Champions League or the European Cup. Third place – and thus the Europa League – can no longer reach the wolves.

GROUP H:

Chelsea FC (1st / twelve points) and Juventus Turin (2nd / twelve points) fight for group victory in a long-distance duel. Chelsea play at Zenit St. Petersburg, Juventus at home against Malmö. The direct comparison speaks for the Londoners.
